I know it has been asked many times before, but maybe times have changed, Is there any chance of a Mac-native version of Calamus emerging?
Somehow I never succeed in rumming Calamus under MagicMac,and
I get so frustrated with crashes in Corel and limitations in InDesign.

I am interested in why you can't get Camaus running under Magic Mac. I am working with this combination all day long. But, due to my somewhat slow Mac, on OS9. My OSX-machine is too slow for Calamus, but, with patience, it does work very well. I just can't bring myself to bying a new computer when the old one still does its jobs very well.
And I am interested in the limitations in InDesign compared to Calamus that you see. I often feel strong pressure from my customers to change to a more widely used system (InDesign), but I can still do all my jobs easily with Calamus and I would have 10.000 Calamus files to convert... On the other hand, I see that many things in Calamus could be easier, for example, rotating photos and maintain a proper textflow around it.
What limitations of InDesign are you talking about?
I have a G4 running 400 MHz operating with OS9 as my Calamus production machine and an iMac G3 with 500 MHz and OSX as backup for my G4. But working with this iMac/OSX/Calamus combination really bends my toes. And the files I work with grow larger and larger. I import many PDFs into Calamus and these are all with many, many thousands of vectorframes. And part of the slowness can come from the wireless network of the iMac. The other computers are wired to the network.
Last week I had the memory on my G3 expanded from 256 to 640 Mb, but I haven't tested the speed benefits yet.
As long as my G4/OS9 combination works well, I don't need a faster computer. But as more parts of Calamus will be OSX-ed, a G5 comes closer. I really need a very good reason for a new computer, like a total breakdown or an advantage I can't work without (like Calamus OSX).
Happily, I also have a Windows XP/1.7 GHz laptop, which is much faster in most respects, but I feel more comfortable working with a Mac with which I have less systemtroubles.

> G4/400 MHz/OS9/576 MB RAM: 2 seconds
> iMac G3/500 MHz/OSX/640 MB RAM: 12 seconds
> Laptop/1.7 GHz/XP pro/768 MB RAM: 4 seconds
(...although I must say that in many other respects, the Windows-computer beats the G4...)
