Core Image for Calamus?

Core Image for Calamus?

Hi,

I have just seen the Quicktime-movie of WWDC2004 of Apple. http://stream.apple.akadns.net/
I was particularly impressed with the technology of Core Image that is built into OSX.4, see http://www.apple.com/macosx/tiger/core.html. There was a demonstration of a small application with which images and text could be manipulated real time. This application was programmed in ONE WEEK by ONE PERSON.
Couldn't this be done for Calamus? I know, it would be against the policy that Calamus is the same on all platforms, but this could really be a great chance to join this kind of technology with the great strengths of Calamus. It looked like it's right there on the table to pick it up and use it. It looked that simple.
And I'm sure, in a few years, Windows will come up with something like this, so then the Win and Mac Calamus will work the same again.
Any one in favor? Any volunteers?

As a great advantage of Mac OS X there are very many features and tools in the COCOA package which can be used by every Apple developer. We would have to settle a completely new Calamus version on this system - and we would not be able to portate it to Windows or Linux as long as the library (COCOA) is not available on these platforms.

But let's see ... ;-)

But, just mind-jogging, there are a kind of windows in the Calamus-system, aren't there? For instance, the printerdrivers like Macprint use the systemfunctions. You dont't have to re-write the whole Calamus, 'just' program a kind of module which works outside Calamus or the emulator, which is then accessed by Calamus.
Then we would have Calamus with real Calamus-modules and some platform-specific modules.
But I guess it all boils down to money and manpower...
