NVDI installation under MagiC Mac X
Hi,

I have jsut purchased MagiC Mac X and installed. I also have NVDI 5 on 2 floppies. Since my iBook do not have a floppy, I have copied the NVDI disks onto a CD and copied the files to the C-partition under MagiC. When I start the installation program I enter my serialnumber and then the program asks for disk 2. Since I do not have a floppy I do not have a disk 2. All files are on the harddisk under MagiC.

Does anyone know how I can install NVDI 5 on a computer WITHOUT floppy drive?

With MagiCMac X, NVDI is no longer required as far as I know.

NVDI is no longer maintained, so you are on your own.

You have to install NVDI manually, i.e. you have to copy the files. This is an FAQ, e.g. it is discussed in http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=dc0fb4f6.0301040509.a65873f%40posting.google.com&output=gplain and maybe also elsewhere.

Yes, it still makes sense using NVDI, because this gives you the GDOS functionality, so that you can use different (vector) fonts and print to e.g. PCL printers.

I did not keep this in mind as I wondered if this is still important for Calamus. Are there any needs for NVDI as far as Calamus is concerned?

Yes. The MMI (i.e. AES) cannot use proportional fonts without NVDI.
