I don't know if I can really help.

Basically, all keyboard input runs this way:

1. You press a key.
2. Windows checks if you pressed a "composed" key (like ´, `, ^, etc.)
3. Windows handles the keycode to Calamus.exe.
4. Calamus.exe checks if the keycode has been defined for translation in <Your Calamus folder>\System\translat.ini. If so, the keycode will be translated.
5. Calamus.exe checks if the keycode has been defined for translation in <Your Calamus folder>\System\keytab.ini. If so, the keycode will be translated.
6. Calamus.exe sends the keycode to Calamus.prg.
7. Calamus.prg calls its NKCC (Normalized Key Code Controller) in order to do various checks, like:
a) Is this a defined Calamus system macro?
b) Is this a Control key?
c) Is this a text macro?
d) Is this a global/local Calamus command macro?
e) Is this a text character which should be entered somewhere?

It's a long way ...
