SL2000 twice as fast as SL2003 on OSX?

Hi,

I just by mistake ran the old SL2000 and discovered that it opens documents about twice as fast!!! Feels much faster to work with.
With SL2003 it takes much longer before it actulally starts drawing, and when it does it is much slower than SL2000...

Is this right/ -Why is this?
Anything I can turn off?

(I have the cache turned off in both versions.)

Magic MacX1.1 OSX 10.3.2 G4 800MHz/576Mb RAM

I do not know exactly but I suppose it depends on the new color separation which was not available in SL2000.

Let me be more correct/precise:

Screenredraw is sometimes nearly twice as fast in SL2000.
Loading a document with SL2000 _before_ starting to write the screen is often _much_more_ than twice faster than SL2003.

Is there something that can be done about this?

Can the slow loading time have something to do with some memory buffer setting or something?

I was testing on an old document.
It is the conversion from the SL2000 document that to all the extra time!

It would have been helpful if instead of indicating just "Loading" it would say "Converting". Then I would have known right away what was causing the slowishness and I would not have been as frustrated that my new Calamus is so much slower!

What a releif anyway, to find out that I just have to re-save the largest documents, that I frequently just print (not edit), to speed things up considerely!
