I've had this problem since many many releases of Calamus, but I had always hoped it would disappear in the next release. I think David Barkin came across this problem as well... : sometimes the clipboard (Liberty) just doesn't respond. Whenever I try to cut or paste, to or from the clipboard, it says : Hey, select an object first in the window !
Is there a solution ?
Suppose I want to take a frame from a document to paste it into another document. First, I copy the frame into the clipboard. When I want to paste it in the other document, 5 times out of ten, it wouln't. It keeps telling me : "No object selected - please select en object first in the window"
usually this alert occurs when the document window is not the topmost window. If you selected e.g. not only an icon of the clipboard panel window, but topped the clipboard panel window itself, Calamus cannot recognize the desired document window and reports this alert.
Well, I made sure my document window is the topmost window, and I still can't cut an object from that document to the pasteboard. I have the message : No object selected - Please select an object first in the window.
Hope you can help.
I have encountered a similar problem sometimes. It occurred with (a) certain module(s), but I don't remember which one(s). I think it occurred with Calipso1. I imported a PS graphic, try to copy it to the pasteboard and I get your massage. After switching to the frame module I could use the pasteboard.
Paul is absolutely right as far as Calipso 1 is concerned.
Please keep in mind that some modules change the current document edit mode. The Calamus clipboard works context sensitive and reacts in different ways if you e.g. select text in an active text frame or select the text frame itself.
Calipso 1 used a special edit mode which did not allow to move, copy or put frames from or to the Calamus clipboard. Paul did right when he first changed to the frame module. In this case, the frame edit mode became the current one - would you have expected this? ;-)
Jerry, please check which module was the active one before you wanted to put something on the clipboard. The reaction of the current clipboard depends on the current document edit mode, not on the clipboard itself. So the reaction should be the same if you use LIBerty or the basic clipboard.
