Holy crap. :-)

You can build any document layout with Calamus on your own, even following the blurb parameters. This is no big deal at all, although the blurb stuff refers to the postScript and PDF box model stuff.

As far as PDF/X-3 export is concerned: They just want to be sure they won't tumble about not included fonts, transparency and other mistakes. The best way to produce a safe PDF for production, is PDF-Print in the required resolution and color system.
